When the Clock Keeps Running, So Does the Uncertainty. Hourly hoisting & difficult stairs vs. a flat rate.

Difficult stairs are where hourly moves get expensive. Every tight landing, every piece that has to come apart, every try at a turn that won't work is billed by the minute.

That's a lot of uncertainty for one staircase.

Red Cat does it differently.

We look at the stairs and the doorways before we come and agree on the price, so the hard part is already in it.

Hourly vs. Flat Rate

Why Let the Clock Decide What You Pay?

With hourly movers, the final price depends on how long the job takes. DC-area drivers lost about 62 hours to traffic in 2024, nearly 20 more than the national average (INRIX). On an hourly move, every one of those minutes is on your bill.

Hoisting & Difficult Stairs

When the Stairs Don't Cooperate

The jobs other movers quote by the hour, or turn down.

  • Rowhouse stairs

Steep, narrow DC and Baltimore staircases with a turn at the top.

  • Walk-ups

Third and fourth floors with no elevator, carried up flight by flight.

  • Spiral and tight turns

Pieces taken apart, turned on end, and put back together upstairs.

  • Window and balcony hoisting

When it won't fit up the stairs, we hoist it in with ropes from outside.
